Grand-Am 2008 Speculation Update 3
Waddle has been digging around for more news and conspiracy theories and he now believes that Porsche will be making quite a comeback for 2008. Waddle hasn't come up with a whole lot, but he has reason to believe that Porsche wants to flex its motorsports muscles even more in Grand-Am. TRG is now back with Porsche and it looks like they intend to stay with them. If running two cars in the GT class wasn't enough it looks like there is a good possibility of them running a prototype as well. Alex Job Racing looks like they will stay with their current program, and at this time it does not look like they will be doing anything in the ALMS in 2008. There are plenty more teams that look like they will be running Porsches and they will have a new engine if they want a V8 instead of the aging flat 6. Waddle will keep you posted as more information becomes available.

Grand-Am 2008 Speculation Update 2
It now looks like Waddle was correct in his original assumption that Sun Trust Racing was switching chassis manufacturers. They are not going to the ALMS, but rather going to be the front-runner for the new Dallara chassis. It looks like the rest of the top teams will be back, so the exodus to the ALMS isn't happening yet, though the 2008 grid will probably be smaller than the 2007 one.

Chip Ganassi Racing to the ALMS? Update 3
Well Waddle still thinks that Chip Ganassi Racing will be doing Gran-Am next year, he still has his hopes up for 2009. This is when Toyota will probably introduce their GT racing car it will probably have a Lexus badge. Waddle believes that Chip Ganassi Racing will be there to be the top runner for this car. Waddle also believes that Chip Ganassi Racing will switch to Toyota for next season in NASCAR. Waddle doesn't know for sure if this will happen, but he is fairly sure that we should see some kind of announcement soon.

Zytek 07S News and Speculation
Well Waddle has decided to try and take a shot at predicting what the future Zytek 07S will look like. Unlike the Radical SR9, the future of the Zytek 07S looks really good. In Waddle's opinion the Zytek is probably the second best of the LMP2 cars, even better than the Acura ARX-01a. The 07S is also raced in LMP1 by Arena International Motorsport, but they haven't had much success there in LMP1. For next year in LMP1 it looks like Arena International Motorsport will continue on by themselves with the Zytek in LMP1. Although Waddle still thinks that they will be racing, he doesn't think that they will do a complete schedule, with maybe doing two or so rounds. Fortunately for Zytek things look a lot different in LMP2 with the 07S. Just the other day Barazi Epsilon announced their intentions to run a two car team with the Zytek in LMP2. They are a good team and having two cars should really help Zytek, though Waddle has learned that they probably won't be the only team with Zyteks in LMP2. Waddle is fairly sure that Team LNT will have one if not two cars for LMP2. Waddle has also learned that with the way that the Zytek has performed in recent races they have a lot of interest in the 07S. They are already at work on building a new one, if not more than that. So we will probably see at least one if not two more than those that Waddle has already listed. That brings the total up to 1 possible in LMP1 and probably 4 if not 5 or 6 in LMP2. Unfortunately for those of us on the American side of the pond it doesn't look like any of these cars will be here for the regular season. So Waddle is looking forward to having several Zyteks on the track next year in the LMS and maybe some here for Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca.

Radical SR9 News and Speculation
When the Radical SR9 was first introduced it was hailed as possibly one of the best LMP2 cars out there, and having a real shot at winning championships. Well things didn't quite turn out that way as Radical had hoped. It has hardly been the championship winning car, and it has been outclassed by the other LMP2 cars. Waddle has decided to try and find out what has become of this car and what its future looks like. Here in the ALMS it looks like it will be just Van der Steur Racing with one car, and probably just a few rounds if any. Things are better over in the LMS, but not much better. Since Embassy Racing dropped its Radicals and decided to make its own car things are going to be a lot worse next year than this year. Embassy was probably the best of the Radical teams, so this is a major blow to Radical. They are building their own prototype that is similar to the Radical SR9 so this could lure most customers away from buying a new SR9. This leaves Bruichladdich Radical, Damax, and Melchester with plans to race the SR9 next season. Bruichladdich Radical is kind of like a factory team (the owner of the team is a top man at Radical) so they will probably bring their SR9 to most of the rounds. Damax and Melchester have both announced intentions to race Radicals next season in the LMS. Waddle is not sure if their program will happen, but even if it does it will probably not have any real success as they will just be using second hand cars from Embassy andRollcentre. Waddle has learned that Radical hasn't sold any new car, despite offering them at bargain prices, so don't expect to see any teams with new cars. Maybe it is about time for Radical to start work on a new LMP2 or LMP1, because the SR9 is going nowhere fast.
News on Other RS Spyders Update 2
Waddle has now found another candidate which could be one of the rumored two car, ex-Indycar teams. This team is Lowes Fernandez Racing. They have been strongly rumored to be switching manufacturers next year. Zytek was one of the names that was thrown out, but Waddle thinks that they may be getting Porsche RS Spyders. They are an ex-Indycar team that would certainly be good enough to be getting the famed Porsche race car. It is no secret that they have been disappointed with this years package so a change for next year seems very likely. Waddle will continue to keep you posted as this 2008 ALMS season gets closer.

Speculation on Grand-Am 2008 Update 1
Waddle has previously said that he thought that SunTrust Racing would be switching manufacturers, but now Waddle believes that they could be switching to the ALMS. Their two top drivers Wane Taylor and Max Angelelli were present at PLM. This probably wouldn't mean anything, but SunTrust Racing is selling both of this years cars. Both of them are fairly new, and still very competitive. Though Waddle has learned that they are going to use one of them for the 24 hours of Daytona. They could easily do both Daytona and ALMS if they wanted to. This is what Waddle knows so far, and if they do make the switch to ALMS he doesn't know what car they would be racing, though it would probably be a prototype or a possibly GT1.

News on Other RS Spyders Update 1
Waddle now has strong reason to believe that one of these two car teams will be a Red Bull backed Cheever Racing. This combination would be perfect, as it perfectly fits the criteria that was laid down for these teams. Cheever Racing is an ex-Indycar team, so it passes that piece of information. Cheever Racing has strong links to Porsche, and they currently run a Porsche DP in Gran-Am. The question is where the money will come from, and Waddle believes that it will come from Red Bull. Cheever Racing and Red Bull have been partners before, and like Waddle has said Red Bull would be a perfect fit on a RS Spyder. Waddle really believes that this will happen, don't bet your life on it, but Waddle might.
